"I'm a lefty - get used to it"

So, yet another US President is left handed. The new President Obama is meant to have told his staff: "I'm a lefty - get used to it."

Let's hope he changes some things around the White House so it's more southpaw-friendly.

It really irritates me when you go to the loo somewhere and the soap dispenser is located to the right of the basin. I either have to lean right over as I naturally want to use my left hand, or I am forced to use my right.

And bathrooms where the space for placing things like cleanser, lotion, tooth mugs etc is to the right of the hand basin.

Even windows and doors are designed to be opened with your right hand. Well, they are in my flat and it's simply too costly to re-do them.

What I'd really like to see is a toaster designed for left handers. I have searched and searched but can't find one anywhere.

Maybe President Obama will champion the cause of left handers, so we are no longer the forgotten minority.

Hello Carole,
Long time no posts, hope all is well with you....
May I add another request?
I want a camera for lefties. It is so irritating trying to click right-handed, or choose the setting / display photos unless I turn the cam upside down!
:-) ;-)

Hi Zuza

I know - I'm not quite sure where January has gone. I'm a freelance copywriter and I've been given lots of projects to do this month. Still, it's good to be busy...

On the question of cameras, I did see one recently online. I'll have a hunt around and let you know. It was quite a simple one, I seem to recall.

Hi Zuza

I just Googled 'left handed camera’ and there were some for auction on eBay here in the UK. Are you based in the US? Maybe they’ve got some on eBay.com?

All the best
Carole

Hi Carole,
Glad you're back ;-) ;-)
Thanks for the tip, I am actually based in Canada. I think even if they have left handed cameras, they won't be good ones.
Till they come up with one, it shall remain on my wish list!
Take care and all the best...
